Training - Direct Access
If you are over 21 you can chose to carry out your training and
take your Category A test on a 47bhp (35KW) machine.
Pass the test and you can then ride any bike. This is called
direct access.
N.B. Even if you are over 21 and own your own machine over
47bhp you will only be allowed to ride when accompanied by a DOT
approved instructor. For unaccompanied riding you will still be
limited to 125cc.
Some of the many things you will learn whilst preparing to take
your full licence test will include:
* Enhancement of your basic riding skills
* Higher speed riding
* Multi carriageway riding
* Overtaking
* Filtering and shaving Anticipating the actions of other road
users
* Conversion course to 47bhp machines if undertaking direct access
